Milan Seitan Steaks Vegan
Preparation: 45 minutes
Serves 4
- 4 seitan steaks
- 1/4 c. unbleached flour
- 2 T margarine
- 2 T olive oil
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 c. red wine
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp dried rosemary
- 2 T parsley, minced
- 1 T fresh lemon peel, grated
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Coat seitan steaks with flour.
- Heat margarine and oil in a fryingpan over medium heat.
- Brown the steaks on the top and bottom, about 4 minutes each side. Set aside.
- Add the onion and the garlic.
- Sauté for a few minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Add the win, salt, pepper, thyme and rosemary and bring to a gentle boil.
- Arrange the steaks in the bottom of a shallow casserole.
- Spoon the sauce over the steaks.
- Cover and bake for about 30 minutes or until heated through.
- Mix together the parsley, lemon peel and garlic.
- Serve on top of each steak.
