Caramelized Maple Tofu Vegan
Preparation: overnite marinade plus 15 minutes
Serves 4 to 6
- 1 lb extra firm silken tofu
- ½ c maple syrup
- 2 c. fresh berries
- Slice tofu horizontally into two or three slices about ½ inch thick, and then cut them in half vertically.
- Place in a container and cover thoroughly with the maple syrup.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Turn slices about halfway through marinate time.
- Grill or fry the tofu slices over a medium heat until just warm, about three minutes on either side.
- Place on a dessert plate and drizzle with a bit of maple syrup.
- Serve with fresh berries.
Variation: Drizzle the tofu with fresh orange and
lime juice instead of more maple syrup.
